Summary: Still a prisoner of Morgoth, Húrin learns his younger daughter's name.
Húrin looks out from the shadow of the mountain and sees his family, will he or nill he. He keenly understands the implied threat; Morgoth knows where his dear ones are, sees everything they do. But Morgoth cannot take away the simple joy of seeing them. His Morwen, grieving but still proud and determined; his son, curious and brave.
He sees his younger daughter born, sees her learning to walk, following at Morwen’s heels like a young foal after her mother. He hears Morwen name her, Nienor.
“Oh, Morwen,” he says softly. “I would have given her a happier name.”
